Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old versatile Malian attacker Lassine Sinayoko from Ligue 1 club AJ Auxerre in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Africa Foot, Lassine Sinayoko is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window. So, the versatile AJ Auxerre forward has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit, with the Ligue 1 club ready to part ways with him for only €7 million.
Who is Lassine Sinayoko?
Lassine Sinayoko has come leaps and bounds since breaking into the first-team squad at AJ Auxerre. A native of Bamako, the African attacker spent his formative years in France, passing through the academies at Cosmo Taverny and Entente SSG before graduating from the youth division at AJ Auxerre.
The 25-year-old has been a late bloomer, having not made his first-team bow for AJ Auxerre as a budding teenager and instead waiting until he was 21 to break into the senior setup. However, Sinayoko has gone from strength to strength in the last four years, becoming a regular for the Ligue 1 outfit.
The Malian international has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Auxerre while chipping in with 16 goals and 14 assists. Meanwhile, the versatile attacker’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Newcastle United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
Premier League adventure beckons?
Newcastle United’s interest in Lassine Sinayoko is understandable. The Magpies are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window after selling Miguel Almiron this past winter. So, Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy, and Harvey Barnes are the only forwards for the wide berths at Newcastle United.
Several wide attackers, including Kingsley Coman, have thus emerged on Newcastle United’s radar, with Sinayoko also a viable target for the Tyneside outfit. Meanwhile, the AJ Auxerre forward will not cost a bomb, with the Ligue 1 outfit demanding around €7 million to part ways with him.
Newcastle United should have no qualms about coughing up €7 million to secure Sinayoko’s services in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if an adventure in the Premier League is on the cards for the 25-year-old Malian international.
