Idrissa Gueye is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract with Everton, with the Merseyside club doing everything to keep hold of Jarrad Branthwaite.

According to a report by Africa Foot, Idrissa Gueye will likely remain with Everton beyond the summer transfer window. The Senegalese international is in the final few months of his contract with the Merseyside outfit. However, the two parties are on the cusp of sealing an agreement over a new deal in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, a report by Football Insider has claimed that the Toffees are doing everything they can to keep hold of Jarrad Branthwaite beyond the summer transfer window. The English centre-back is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. However, the Merseyside outfit will aim to secure his long-term future.

Idrissa Gueye and Jarrad Branthwaite: Key Everton players

Idrissa Gueye is currently in his second spell with Everton, having previously represented the Merseyside outfit between August 2016 and July 2019. The Senegalese international then turned out for Paris Saint-Germain and enjoyed a solid three-year stint since returning to Goodison Park a few years ago.

The 35-year-old may be in the twilight of his career, but he has compelled Everton to hand him a new contract. Africa Foot has claimed that the Toffees are on the verge of sealing an agreement with the veteran midfielder in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Gueye might not be the only player to commit his long-term future to Everton, with the Merseyside club also eager to keep hold of Jarrad Branthwaite.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window as Carlo Ancelotti looks to bolster his squad’s central defensive options. So, the 22-year-old Englishman has emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos, as he can be the perfect foil to Eder Militao at the heart of the defence.

The English international has the quality to become a long-term solution at the heart of defence for Real Madrid. However, Everton will “do everything” to keep the youngster at the club beyond the summer transfer window as they prepare to move to Bramley-Moore Dock in the coming months.

The Toffees are determined to make ceiling-raising signings while keeping hold of their pivotal figures. It will be interesting to see if both Gueye and Branthwaite commit their long-term futures to Everton.
