Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are now pushing for the signature of Gremio’s sensational attacker Gabriel Mec after striking a deal for Denner.
Chelsea’s new transfer policy under the BlueCo completely focuses on signing the best young stars from across the globe. While they have already made significant investments for the long run, the West London club are always on the lookout for young prospects who have massive potential.
The Blues recently struck a deal with Corinthians for full-back Denner Evangelista, and according to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, the Blues are now going after the services of Gabriel Mec, who has been compared to Neymar.
The teenager has come up the ranks at Gremio, and at the age of just 16, he is already a first-team player. Chelsea wanted to sign the attacking midfielder last summer, and they did make a move. But, they could not get it over the line as Mec agreed a deal to stay at the club.
Chelsea remain in talks
However, talks between the two parties have not broken down. The lines of communication remain open, and Chelsea are pushing hard to ensure they win the race for the signature of Gabriel Mec this time around.
While the teenage sensation has only made two first-team appearances so far, his performances at the youth level have attracted the Premier League giants’ interest, and they want to make him a part of their project at all costs.
Estevao Willian is all set to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer, and they recently struck a deal worth £8.2 million plus £3.3 million in add-ons for Denner Evangelista. The young full-back will be making the move to London next year.
Now, Chelsea are looking to get a deal in place that would see Gabriel Mec join them next summer. However, they are not the only club that are interested in the versatile forward who can feature as a number ten as well as on the flanks.
Barcelona have also been keeping a close eye on his progress, and they have already held talks with the player. While Mec is in no rush to decide his future with his contract running until 2027, the general expectation is that a deal will be arranged well before he turns 18.
