Ruben Amorim wants Manchester United to sign Pedro Goncalves

Ruben Amorim is reportedly pushing Manchester United to sign 26-year-old Portuguese international Pedro Goncalves from Sporting CP in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Theatre of Dreams, Pedro Goncalves is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are scouring the market for an offensive reinforcement, and Ruben Amorim has identified his protege from Sporting CP as a candidate to bolster the attack in the summer transfer window.

Pedro Goncalves and his rise at Sporting CP

Pedro Goncalves, also known as Pote, has established himself as one of the best players in his country since joining Sporting CP from Famalicao in August 2020. The player was a late bloomer, with short stints with Valencia and Wolverhampton Wanderers not yielding the desired results. However, he finally rose in prominence during his spell with Famalicao.

The 26-year-old has been a pivotal figure for Sporting CP in the last four and a half years, filling Bruno Fernandes’s void at the Primeira Liga club. Pote has struggled with fitness issues but has still managed to contribute to 11 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net five times and providing six assists.

Meanwhile, Pote’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, have shown interest in the Portuguese international, with Manchester United among the prospective suitors for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Amorim reunion on the cards for Pote?

Manchester United’s interest in Pedro Goncalves is understandable. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window, with Ruben Amorim identifying his former protege as a viable target for his side ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Amorim’s arrival at Manchester United has already paved the way for the Red Devils’ links with several Sporting CP players, including Geovany Quenda and Viktor Gyokeres. However, Pote is also a viable target for Manchester United, considering his suitability for Amorim’s system.

The 26-year-old Portuguese international is a productive forward, and his addition to the Manchester United attack should take the Red Devils forward. However, it will be interesting to see if Amorim can convince Manchester United to sign him from Sporting CP in the summer transfer window.
