Liverpool rival Chelsea, Manchester City in Carlos Baleba chase

Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City are hoping to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, with the Premier League club valuing him at £115 million.

It will be interesting to see if they follow up on their interest with an official offer to sign the Cameroonian international. Baleba has established himself as one of the finest young defensive midfielders in the Premier League, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for all three clubs. The youngster has proven his work in the Premier League with Brighton, and he is certainly good enough to play for the best clubs in the country.

Liverpool need a quality defensive midfielder in the summer transfer window, and Carlos Baleba would be an exceptional acquisition. He will help shield the back four and allow the creative players to operate with more freedom.

Meanwhile, Manchester City need a quality backup option to Rodri as well. They have struggled in the absence of the Spanish international midfielder this season. Having another reliable defensive midfielder will be a top priority for them. Baleba certainly fits the profile and he would be an exceptional acquisition.

Meanwhile, Chelsea already have Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia at their disposal. It would be quite surprising if they decided to invest in another defensive midfielder. They need to improve the other areas of their squad, including the central defence and the attacking unit.

Baleba will demand regular game time

Carlos Baleba will be hoping to play regularly next season, and he is unlikely to join a club where he won’t be a guaranteed starter. A move to Chelsea might not be as attractive to the player, especially if they cannot guarantee him that he will start ahead of Caicedo and Lavia. Similarly, Manchester City are unlikely to hand them regular starts ahead of Rodri when he is fit.

Liverpool could have an edge over their rivals in the race to sign the Cameroonian international if they can promise him regular game time. However, the asking price seems quite steep, and it would be quite surprising if Liverpool agreed to pay £115 million for the player, especially when they need to improve the other areas of their squad as well.
