Chelsea are set to demand a hefty price for impressive loanee Renato Veiga in the summer with Juventus considering a permanent move.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Juventus will have to pay a considerable fee to secure Renato Veiga on a permanent deal in the summer. The Chelsea loanee has impressed with the Turin giants since his move in January, as Chelsea are reportedly demanding at least €33 million plus bonuses for the Portuguese star.
Many of Chelsea’s supporters were baffled at the idea of letting Renato Veiga leave, not for sporting reasons but to understand the club’s overall strategy. The versatile Portuguese player arrived from FC Basel in a €12 million deal, as he was billed as someone who can play multiple positions.
Enzo Maresca has used Veiga in midfield and the left-back role, although he did not fit into the system perfectly. Chelsea tried to use him in a deal to sign Douglas Luiz during the January window before sanctioning a dry loan to Juventus when the Italian giants reportedly paid a €5 million loan fee.
At Juventus, Veiga has impressed thoroughly in the short time he has had there, with the 21-year-old defender forming a substantial part of their central defence. The Bianconeri are already thinking about making the signing permanent, as the report states that Chelsea tried to demand €33 million plus Bonuses earlier in January.
With the 21-year-old defender’s performances proving crucial for Juventus since he joined, Chelsea could demand a similar fee or more for Veiga in the summer. Many of the Juventus fans are eager for the club to sign him on a permanent basis, although any move will depend on the outcome of negotiations between the two clubs.
Renato Veiga’s future remains uncertain
While his performances could spark life into reviving his career at Chelsea, there’s also a big chance the Blues will look to sell him on for a significant profit. Juventus will be interested in a deal should the 21-year-old defender continue to perform at a similar level until the end of the campaign.
However, should Chelsea receive a fee close to their €33 million plus bonuses demands, they will likely sell. Such a profit and a short turnaround will benefit the Blues in their quest to bring in new players and stay within the bounds of their PSR obligations.
