AC Milan eyeing permanent move for Kyle Walker

AC Milan are already convinced of sealing a permanent move for on-loan defender and Manchester City icon Kyle Walker in the summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, AC Milan are ready to make Kyle Walker’s move to the club permanent as soon as the summer window opens. The Manchester City icon has impressed in a short span at the Italian giants, who are now interested in keeping him on for longer.

Kyle Walker was a surprise departure from Manchester City in the January window. The move happened swiftly after Pep Guardiola revealed the defender’s desire to leave. The Manchester City icon has been a sensational servant for the club, winning multiple Premier League titles and the Champions League.

He had a terrible season up until his move to AC Milan on loan for the remainder of the season, as many fans began criticising him, among other teammates, for their performances for Manchester City. The defender has found his calling elsewhere and is already an essential figure at the San Siro.

Given his age and experience, Walker has become a leader in Milan’s dressing room and is the first choice right back under Sergio Conceicao. The Rossoneri are now keen to sign him on a permanent basis despite him having played only a handful of games since his move.

Real Madrid reportedly turned down the chance to sign Walker, although other clubs were interested in signing him. Some were from within the Premier League, as the Manchester City icon chose to leave England for a new challenge in Italy.

Will Kyle Walker sign for AC Milan permanently?

Walker still has a lot to give despite his advancing age, as many pointed out his lack of application during the season with Manchester City. That did not stop Saudi Arabian clubs from showing interest, but ultimately, Walker chose to stay in Europe and join Milan.

However, the summer window could open new avenues, as Milan probably does not have any buy option on the defender. The Manchester City icon may have some lucrative offers coming his way from the Saudi Pro League or others, which will force a decision from the defender. Milan might be open to signing him, but it may be counterproductive to invest heavily in the wages of a 34-year-old for the short—to mid-term future.
