Liverpool considering Micky van de Ven move

Liverpool are considering a move for Tottenham’s star centre-back Micky van de Ven as a replacement for compatriot Virgil van Dijk.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have added another defensive name to their list as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk. The Merseysiders are now interested in a move for Tottenham’s 23-year-old star Micky van de Ven, although some factors could make the move challenging.

Liverpool are set for a challenging summer ahead as they are on the verge of losing three of their most influential stars, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, on free transfers. Some might argue that losing the centre-back might be the most important of the three departures, although the club will severely miss the Egyptian’s goalscoring prowess as well as the right-back’s creativity.

Sticking with Van Dijk, and he has a lot of clubs chasing him, with Barcelona among those keen. While losing him will create a big gap at the back for Liverpool, the club seems determined to bring in a solid replacement with names like Dean Huijsen, who have already been mentioned as targets

They are unlikely to sign Jarrad Branthwaite, with the Everton defender set to stay put at the club and begin the new season at the new stadium. They are also interested in Marc Guehi, with the Crystal Palace defender set to enter the final year of his deal. However, he will be expensive and will attract big competition for his signature.

The latest name has entered their shortlist as Liverpool is reportedly interested in Tottenham’s 23-year-old star Micky van de Ven. The Dutch defender may be one of the ideal names to replace his compatriot Van Dijk at Liverpool, although some complications make this move challenging.

Liverpool’s Micky van de Ven pursuit complicated

For starters, Liverpool will face the mammoth task of convincing Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to sell their star defender. The Spurs man is a notorious character and pretty hard to please, as he will attach an exorbitant price tag on the 23-year-old star, which could scupper Liverpool’s ideas.

The other big challenge is to think about Van de Ven’s recent injury record, as he has suffered another recurring problem with his hamstring. All those factors make the idea of singing the Dutchman very challenging for Liverpool, as they might look at alternatives in the summer.
