Chelsea have received a boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid target Murillo as he looks all set to leave Nottingham Forest in the summer.
Murillo’s consistent performances for Nottingham Forest have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Chelsea are one of the clubs that have a long-standing interest in his services and will look to make a move for him next summer.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, the Blues have received a massive boost in their pursuit as Murillo is likely to leave the Tricky Trees at the end of the season. But, the West London club are not the only ones who are keen on his signature as Real Madrid have also been monitoring him.
The 22-year-old has only gone from strength to strength since joining Nottingham in the summer of 2023. He has been in exceptional touch this season and is one of the biggest reasons why they sit third in the Premier League.
Chelsea could land Murillo next summer
Chelsea have been monitoring him for a while now and they did make a move to sign him during the winter window. The Blues held talks with his agents but they didn’t knock on the doors of Nottingham with an offer.
While Enzo Maresca is keen on reinforcing his backline with a world-class centre-back, they decided to take a back seat until the summer before spending big on a defender.
The Blues will be quite busy ahead of next season as they will look to give Maresca everything he needs to build on the successful start at Stamford Bridge. Apart from the West London club, Real Madrid have also been scouting the 22-year-old.
Los Blancos are looking to reinforce their backline which has struggled because of injuries to key stars. They want to freshen things up at the back and their scouts have been closely monitoring the Brazilian defender. But, their interest is in the early stage as they tend to scout players for around two years before making a move.
Meanwhile, the Blues are looking to raid Nottingham in the summer. They will have to fork out around £70 million if they want to sign Murillo. While the Tricky Trees are open to his departure as long as their demands are met, negotiations won’t be that easy for Chelsea. More importantly, if Nuno Espírito Santo’s team make it to the Champions League, the fee could go even higher.
