Manchester City are interested in acquiring the services of Juventus shot-stopper Michele Di Gregorio ahead of next season.
Manchester City are looking to reinforce their goalkeeping position in the next summer transfer window and according to Paolo Bargiggia, the Premier League giants are interested in acquiring the services of Juventus mainstay Michele Di Gregorio.
The 27-year-old Italian shot-stopper was a part of Inter Milan youth setup. While he did go up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team back in 2018. He never really got an extended run in the team and spent a significant amount of time out on loan.
He joined Monza in the summer of 2020 on a two-year-long loan deal. The move became permanent in the summer of 2022 thanks to his performances. His consistency helped him secure a move to Juventus last summer.
Di Gregorio has established himself as a key figure in Thiago Motta’s team. He has been involved in a total of 27 matches and has only conceded 23 goals and has kept 12 clean sheets in the process. While he is currently on a season-long loan at the Turin-based club, the move will become permanent next summer.
City want Di Gregorio in goal for next season
His contract at the Old Lady runs until the summer of 2029 but he could end up leaving them ahead of next season as Manchester City plot a raid on the Serie A giants for his signature. Pep Guardiola’s team are preparing for a situation where Ederson Moraes ends up leaving them.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from the club and he could choose to part ways a year before the expiry of his contract. There is a significant amount of interest in the 31-year-old’s services from across Europe and the Middle East. If he does end up leaving, City will look to push for a world-class replacement even though they already have Stefan Ortega in their squad.
City have identified Juventus star Di Gregorio as an ideal fit for their project. Not only is he good with the ball at his feet, the 27-year-old is an exceptional shot-stopper. They are impressed with his performances in the Italian top flight and are looking to make a move for him ahead of next season.
Guardiola’s team have already held talks about the Italian goalkeeper when they knocked on the doors of the Turin-based club to learn more about Andrea Cambiaso during the winter window.
