West Ham United have reignited their pursuit of the services of Real Sociedad attacking mainstay Brais Mendez.
According to a report from Fichajes, West Ham United are interested in acquiring the services of Brais Mendez who has been putting in consistent performances for Real Sociedad in the ongoing campaign. The Hammers are going through a rebuild and they see the Spanish international as an ideal fit for their project.
Mendez came up the ranks at Celta de Vigo and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before making the move to Sociedad in the summer of 2022. He has only gone from strength to strength since and has established himself as one of the mainstays at the Basque club.
He hardly had any difficulty adjusting to Imanol Alguacil’s system. While he prefers playing as a number ten, the 53-year-old manager has used him in a deeper role as well as on the right flank. Mendez has been one of their standout performers this season.
He has been involved in 32 games and has even contributed towards nine goals. His impressive performances have attracted a lot of interest from England. While his contract at Sociedad runs until the summer of 2028, West Ham are one of the clubs that are keen on acquiring his services.
West Ham are pushing for Mendez’s signature
The Hammers have been closely following his development and they are looking to reignite their pursuit of his signature. They seek more quality in the centre of the park and would love to have Mendez in their ranks because of his ability to help control the tempo and contribute in the final third of the pitch.
The London club will undergo a rebuild with Graham Potter at the helm and the Spanish international could prove to be a crucial addition to their team. But, signing him won’t be easy as he still has over three years left on his deal and Sociedad are not willing to part ways with one of their stars.
They are confident that their project and his commitment to the club will be enough to keep him from moving to England. But, they do fear that an opportunity to play in the Premier League could tempt Mendez. Meanwhile, West Ham could soon make their interest formal with an offer.
