Liverpool rival Arsenal, Manchester City in Miguel Gutierrez chase

Liverpool are ready to battle it out with Arsenal and Manchester City for the signature of Girona defensive sensation Miguel Gutierrez.

Miguel Gutierrez could soon end up parting ways with Girona as multiple top clubs are keen on his signature. According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool are three English giants who are pushing to have the Spanish full-back in their squad.

Gutierrez came up the ranks at Real Madrid and he made it to their first team in the summer of 2022. While he had an exceptional rise to the senior side, he was unlikely to get regular minutes. As a result, they ended up selling him to Girona for a minimal fee.

He has only gone from strength to strength over the years. Last season, Gutierrez played a massive role in Girona’s record 3rd-placed finish in La Liga. He has carried that form into the ongoing season as he has seven goal contributions in his 26 outings.

While his contract at the Spanish club runs until the summer of 2027, he is not expected to be around for long given the number of top clubs that are after his signature and the fact that he has a release clause worth just €30 million.

Premier League giants to battle for Gutierrez

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are all keen on signing him and they will knock on Girona’s door in the next transfer window. The Reds are on the lookout for an ideal long-term replacement of Andrew Robertson who has been on the decline of late.

His ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch make him a perfect fit for Arne Slot’s system. The Reds will have to battle Arsenal as well as City. With Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney’s future uncertain, Gutierrez could be a great option to bolster the left flank of their defence for the North London club.

Meanwhile, City do not have an out-and-out left-back in their squad. They have been struggling to find the perfect for that position and feel Gutierrez could help their cause. While all three English clubs are keen on his signature, Real Madrid could spoil the party for them as they hold a buy-back clause option worth just €9 million.
