Chelsea will not accept cut-price bids to part ways with 25-year-old Portuguese ace Joao Felix in the summer transfer window after sending him on loan to AC Milan this month.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Joao Felix faces an uncertain future at Chelsea and might have played his final game for the West London club. The Portuguese international joined AC Milan in the winter transfer window on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season. However, Chelsea will not accept a cut-price bid to part ways with him in the summer.
Joao Felix and his underwhelming career so far
Joao Felix has endured a topsy-turvy ride since leaving SL Benfica over half a decade ago. The highly-rated attacker was among the most highly sought-after prodigies in the world when Atletico Madrid signed him in a mega-money deal in July 2019, beating stiff competition from several high-profile clubs.
The 25-year-old endured a forgettable stint with Atletico Madrid, although he showed promising signs in his loan spell with Barcelona. Chelsea signed Felix last summer in a deal worth around £45 million. However, the player was in and out of the starting lineup in the first half of the 2024/25 season, with the situation leaving him frustrated.
The Portuguese international could not even complete 1,000 minutes of game time in 20 outings across all competitions while chipping in with seven goals and two assists. The situation piqued the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe heading into the winter transfer window.
What next?
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were among the prospective suitors that vied for the signature of Joao Felix before AC Milan secured his services on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season. The former Atletico Madrid attacker began his stint excellently, scoring on his debut as the Serie A giants beat AS Roma in Coppa Italia on Wednesday.
However, despite Felix’s memorable start to life at AC Milan, he does not have a guaranteed long-term future at San Siro. Chelsea will not accept a cut-price fee to part ways with the player in the summer transfer window.
The Blues hope the 25-year-old Portuguese international enjoys an excellent second half of the 2024/25 season so that his value rises in the market. That will also ensure Felix has more suitors lining up for his signature in the summer transfer window.
