Manchester United, Tottenham made approach for Joao Felix, permanent AC Milan move likely

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly keen on signing Joao Felix from Chelsea in the winter transfer window.

Joao Felix joined Chelsea last summer, but he has not been able to hold a regular starting spot. His performances have been rather underwhelming, and a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football has claimed that Manchester United and Tottenham made enquiries for the player in January.

The Portuguese International is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three, and he could have been a useful squad player for Manchester United and Tottenham. So, it is hardly surprising that he courted interest from the Premier League.

Manchester United sanctioned the departures of Antony and Marcus Rashford, and they needed to add more depth to the side. Signing a dynamic attacker like Joao Felix a quality acquisition would have been ideal for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, Tottenham need upgrades on Timo Werner and Richarlison. Both players have been quite underwhelming this season, and it is no surprise that Spurs wanted to sign him. The London club eventually ended up signing Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.

Permanent Milan move would be ideal for Joao Felix

The Portuguese international, who joined Chelsea in a £45 million deal in the summer, has joined AC Milan on loan, and the report claims that a permanent move to the Serie A club seems likely now. AC Milan needed more depth in the attacking unit, and the 25-year-old could prove to be a quality addition.

Joao Felix has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in Italian football, and a fresh start could be ideal for him. The move to England has not worked out for him and he should look to leave the club permanently. It is evident that he is not a key part of the plans at Chelsea, and sitting on the bench at the London club is unlikely to benefit him at this stage of his career.

AC Milan are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they could provide him with the platform to compete regularly and fight for trophies. It could be the ideal move for him at this stage of his career. A spell away from the limelight could do him a world of good and help him regain his form and confidence as it has done for Christian Pulisic. It remains to be seen whether the Serie A outfit decide to sign him permanently.
