Chelsea have identified Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap as their priority targets to reinforce their attack ahead of next season.
Chelsea have been one of the biggest spenders in the transfer market since their takeover back in 2022. While things didn’t go their way in the initial years, it has started to click for the Blues under Enzo Maresca. They are slowly getting back to their best.
While they have been doing a great job so far this season, there are still a lot of issues that need to be addressed in the near future. Signing a top striker has been quite high on their wishlist of late and they will be making a move to bring a new number nine next summer. According to a report from Fichajes, Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap are two top targets for the London club.
Chelsea wanted to strengthen their attack in the recently concluded transfer window but their priority for now was to add depth to their backline and midfield. They succeeded in doing so by signing Mathis Amougou and recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell.
Chelsea’s search for a new number nine
While Nicolas Jackson has been doing an exceptional job for Maresca’s team in the final third, the Italian seeks more competition in the final third and they consider Sesko and Delap as ideal fits for their project. The English youth international has been doing wonders for Ipswich in the Premier League as he has nine goals and two assists in his 23 league games.
The Blues have been following the former Manchester City youth product for months and are looking to make a move for him next summer. Apart from Delap, Chelsea are also interested in the services of Arsenal target who has a release clause worth £65 million.
The Slovenian international has established himself as a mainstay in the Leipzig team. He is amongst the best young talents in the Bundesliga and the Blues feel he could be an ideal fit for their project that revolves around signing the best young players.
With 17 goal contributions in the ongoing campaign, Sesko is certainly enjoying another stellar season at Leipzig. Multiple top clubs will knock on the German club’s door for him next summer and Chelsea will be one of the team as they look to add more depth in the final third.
