West Ham United reportedly offered £500,000 to sign 18-year-old Scottish attacking sensation Daniel Cummings but received rejection from Celtic.
According to a report by Sky Sports journalists Antony Joseph and Dharmesh Sheth, Daniel Cummings is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window. They have offered £500,000 to sign the Celtic attacking sensation, but the Scottish champions have rejected the bid.
Who is Daniel Cummings?
Daniel Cummings is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. Scotland has produced many promising prodigies in the last few years, with Lennon Miller among the most highly sought-after youngsters. However, Cummings has also made his mark in his country.
The 18-year-old has progressed through the ranks at Celtic, taking age-group football by storm in his homeland. The youngster has enjoyed an excellent 2024/25 campaign thus far, amassing 24 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions. Cummings has also broken into the first-team squad, making his senior bow in the UEFA Champions League clash with Aston Villa last week.
Meanwhile, the Scottish attacking prospect’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, have been keen on signing Cummings, with recent reports linking him with Fulham. He is also a target for West Ham United.
London calling?
According to Antony Joseph and Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham United have submitted an opening bid worth £500,000 to sign Daniel Cummings. While the Scot already gave his approval for a summer move, the Hammers want to expedite the deal and secure his services in the winter transfer window.
However, West Ham’s opening bid has not convinced Celtic, with the Scottish champions turning the offer down. The two clubs remain in talks over a possible deal for the 18-year-old Scottish attacking sensation, with the East London outfit considering an improved offer.
West Ham’s eagerness to sign Cummings makes sense, even though Evan Ferguson is on the verge of arriving on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. With Michail Antonio, Danny Ings, and Niclas Fullkrug on the wrong side of 30, West Ham should sign a young striker. So, it will be interesting to see if a late move sees the light of day.
