West Ham United fail with improved offer for Daniel Cummins, will sign him in summer

Graham Potter’s West Ham United have failed to sign Celtic sensation Daniel Cummings in the ongoing transfer window.

According to a report from Sky Sports, West Ham United’s revised offer for the services of Daniel Cummings has been turned down. The Hammers have now decided to sign him next summer after their second bid was also not good enough to convince Celtic to sell mid-season.

Cummings has been a part of the Celtic setup since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their B team at the start of 2024. The 18-year-old striker has only gone from strength to strength in recent years.

The teenage sensation has been on fire this season as he has been involved in a total of 25 matches for the B team, and he has found the back of the net on a total of 24 occasions. Cummings made his senior debut in Celtic’s final league phase game in the Champions League.

West Ham United keen on signing Daniel Cummings

While the youngster is yet to break into their first team, there are already multiple top clubs that are after his signature. West Ham are one of the clubs that have been keen on his signature for some time now. The Hammers have been monitoring him for some time now and are looking to add him to their squad in the ongoing transfer window.

With Niclas Füllkrug and Michail Antonio out injured, the London club are in desperate need of adding more firepower to their ranks. While Daniel Cummings is not yet ready to be a first-team regular, he could have certainly added much-needed depth.

The 18-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of the season and the Hammers have already agreed personal terms with him. While they could easily finalise a pre-contract and sign him in the summer, West Ham were looking to add him to their squad mid-season.

The Hammers will sign him next summer

After their initial offer was turned down by Celtic, West Ham returned with an improved bid of just under £500,000. But, even that was not good enough to convince the Scottish club to sell Daniel Cummings mid-season.

Since their second offer has been rejected, West Ham will no longer push for his signature on deadline day. They will now look to finalise a pre-contract to bring him to the club in the summer transfer window.

Since the Hammers already have the green light form the player, they are looking to get it done this week. Celtic will receive a fixed fee of £350,000 in compensation once the pre-contract agreement in finalised.
