Manchester United are open to making a loan bid to bring Mathys Tel to Old Trafford as Marcus Rashford looks set to depart.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Manchester United are reportedly pressing ahead with their move for Mathys Tel, as they view him as a replacement for Marcus Rashford. The Red Devils could put forward a loan bid for the 19-year-old whizkid after the Frenchman rejected Tottenham’s overtures.
Mathys Tel could yet become a big story late in the transfer window as he might still consider leaving Bayern Munich. Following the player’s decision to reject Tottenham’s offer, reports out of Germany suggested he was open to staying put in the Bundesliga. However, that may have now changed ahead of the transfer deadline.
Following his rejection of Tottenham, Manchester United have reportedly presented an attractive project to the 19-year-old whizkid. The Red Devils remain one of the teams Tel would prefer to join, as per many sources, which does put Ruben Amorim’s side in a strong position despite not being in the Champions League, unlike his current club.
There are many other teams interested, including Arsenal and Chelsea for Mathys Tel, as the transfer could still swing in any direction before the deadline. However, the young attacker’s representatives have held talks with Manchester United over a move, possibly on loan for the remainder of the season.
Manchester United are interested in taking the player on loan until June, which could come with a potential buy option of sorts. Bayern Munich may have already indicated their willingness to do business following an agreement to sell the player with Tottenham.
Mathys Tel to replace Marcus Rashford?
Marcus Rashford is set for a medical with Aston Villa as he nears a loan move, as the deal also comes with a purchase option. Manchester United view Tel as a direct replacement for the homegrown star, and there are suggestions they might not have considered the Frenchman had the English winger stayed put.
Now, Manchester United are willing to press ahead with their pursuit of Mathys Tel and present Bayern Munich a loan offer to seal the transfer. With time of the essence, there are big possibilities of their 19-year-old whizkid arriving at Old Trafford before Monday’s deadline. However, the Red Devils will be wary of teams like Chelsea and Arsenal in the remainder of the window.
