A host of Premier League sides have been offered the chance to sign Victor Boniface after the striker failed to join Al-Nassr.
According to TBR, Victor Boniface could be heading to the Premier League before Monday’s deadline as he’s been offered to a number of English clubs. The Nigerian could still move before Monday’s deadline, with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Chelsea all being mentioned as suitors.
It’s been a frantic 24 hours when it comes to Al-Nassr chasing strikers, as they initially stuck a deal to sign Victor Boniface before a dramatic U-turn. The Saudi Pro League side agreed on a deal in excess of a reported £50 million with Bayer Leverkusen but has since gone on to sign John Duran from Aston Villa.
They are not about to pursue the Bundesliga-winning attacker this month, meaning there’s a situation at Bayer Leverkusen which must be dealt with. The market knows that the German side might be willing to sell the striker, which has instead resulted in the 24-year-old being offered to multiple Premier League sides.
Aston Villa are being mentioned as potential suitors, with the striker being offered to them as well as Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. Whether the Red Devils and the Blues are eager to make a move remains to be seen, although the Premier League giants have been looking for a new striker. In any case, both sides have different priorities, meaning the other two may think of the Bundesliga winner.
Aston Villa may consider him as a replacement for Duran, which could instead trigger a different scenario altogether with Ollie Watkins. Arsenal saw a big bid rejected for the latter, as reports are stating Watkins is keen on the move to north London.
Could Arsenal or Aston Villa sign Victor Boniface?
In the face of the saga, Bayer Leverkusen have already shown their price point, which does make things straightforward for any club willing to sign Boniface. While the Bundesliga champions are open to keeping him, they might even sell him before Monday’s deadline. Arsenal could view him as an alternative if they cannot find a way to sign Watkins.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, could consider a late move if the Watkins situation becomes untenable in the next few days. Either way, there’s a big chance for either Villa or the Gunners to make a move for Boniface, although the time remaining in the window would make things challenging for either side.
