Fulham will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Argentine attacking prospect Matias Soule on loan from Serie A club AS Roma before the winter transfer window shuts down.
According to a report by reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Matias Soule is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers have been scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the winter transfer window. So, the AS Roma winger has emerged as a target, with the West London club submitting an enquiry to sign the struggling 21-year-old forward.
Matias Soule and his AS Roma troubles
Matias Soule has been one of the best young prospects in Serie A in the last 18 months. A native of Mar del Plata, the South American winger spent most of his formative years in his homeland but graduated from the youth division at Juventus after joining the Serie A club from Velez Sarsfield in January 2020.
The 21-year-old rose in prominence during his loan spell with Frosinone Calcio in the 2023/24 season, with his exploits earning him a move to AS Roma in the summer transfer window. However, the youngster has struggled for relevance this term, not even completing 1,000 minutes of game time across 20 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with one goal.
However, Soule’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs across Europe setting their sights on him. Premier League outfits were keen on signing the Argentine attacker in the summer transfer window, with Fulham mulling over pursuing him this month.
London calling?
Fulham’s interest in Matias Soule is understandable. The Cottagers have been scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the winter transfer window. While Alex Iwobi has been impressive this term, other forwards have blown hot and cold, forcing Fulham to dip into the market for a winger.
So, several wide players, including Geny Catamo, have emerged on Fulham’s radar, with Soule also a viable target for the West London club. The Cottagers have already submitted an enquiry to sign the South American winger as they look to secure his services on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.
It is unclear if AS Roma will be ready to accept a loan move for the 21-year-old Argentine winger amid his struggles at the Serie A club. It will be interesting to see if Fulham can succeed with a loan move for the highly-rated attacker.
