Tottenham and Serie A giants AC Milan have verbally agreed to a deal worth €25 million to sign 27-year-old English international Fikayo Tomori, who has rejected the move.
According to a report by Sky Sport Italia, Fikayo Tomori has been the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites have secured a verbal agreement to sign the 27-year-old centre-back from Serie A club AC Milan in a move worth €25 million. The deal also included add-ons worth €5 million.
However, Sky Sports has provided an update on the situation, with the Englishman not interested in joining Tottenham Hotspur this month. In addition, Tomori wants to remain at AC Milan beyond the winter transfer window, thus likely ending the North London club’s bid to secure his services.
Fikayo Tomori and his journey at AC Milan
Fikayo Tomori has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining AC Milan from Chelsea. The Serie A giants initially signed the 27-year-old defender on loan in January 2021 before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window. Since then, the player has been a regular for the Rossoneri, apart from a few small phases.
The English international has turned out over 150 times thus far for AC Milan while chipping in with seven goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Tomori’s progress at the Serie A club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Tottenham Hotspur.
London return on the horizon?
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Fikayo Tomori makes sense. An injury crisis has engulfed the North London club this season, with Radu Dragusin the latest centre-back on the sidelines. In addition, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have struggled with hamstring issues for most of the 2024/25 campaign.
So, Tottenham must dip into the market for a centre-back, with Tomori emerging as a viable target. The North London club also struck a verbal agreement with AC Milan to sign the 27-year-old Englishman a deal worth €25 million while also including add-ons of around €5 million.
However, with Tomori not interested in joining the North London club, a deal will unlikely see the light of day. So, it will be interesting to see who bolsters Tottenham’s central defensive unit before the winter transfer window shuts down.
