Barcelona hijack Real Madrid move for Alan Godoy

Barcelona and Real Madrid have reportedly been interested in 21-year-old Spanish attacking prospect Alan Godoy, with the former winning the race to sign him from CD Eldense.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in Alan Godoy. The Spanish attacking prospect has been impressive with his exploits for CD Eldense, capturing the attention of the two biggest clubs in his homeland. While Los Blancos came close to signing the young striker, he is on the verge of joining Barcelona Atletic.

Who is Alan Godoy?

Alan Godoy has been one of the best young prospects outside La Liga in his homeland. A native of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Spaniard began his youth career in his hometown with UD Las Palmas but travelled around the country before graduating from the academy at Deportivo Alaves.

However, the 21-year-old could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Deportivo Alaves and found his feet after joining CD Eldense in July 2024. However, the youngster’s next move is on the cards, with Barcelona and Real Madrid vying for the highly-rated striker’s signature.

A man in demand

Real Madrid showed interest in the Spanish attacking prospect last summer, with Raul eager to add him to the reserve squad ahead of the 2024/25 season. Los Blancos remained keen on signing the CD Eldense striker in the winter transfer window, and he was close to joining Real Madrid Castilla.

However, Alan Godoy will not join Real Madrid after the Spanish giants backed away from the deal to secure his services. Instead, the young centre-forward will join Real Madrid’s bitter rival, Barcelona, reinforcing the Catalan club’s reserve side, Barca Atletic.

Barca Atletic’s struggles in Primera RFEF’s Group 1 have prompted the decision to steal a march on Real Madrid for Godoy’s signature. The Catalan giants are in the drop zone, and relegation threatens Albert Sanchez’s side. So, they will hope the Spaniard has a positive effect on their fortunes in the second half of the 2024/25 season.

Barcelona and Real Madrid often lock horns in the market, and recent reports have linked them with Saba Kharebashvili and many others. However, Godoy will join Barca Atletic, and it is unclear who Real Madrid Castilla will turn to next. Meanwhile, the Merengues continue to bolster other areas, with Gabriel Castelo closing in on arriving from Atletico Madrid.
