The Bundesliga champions have reached an agreement with Aston Villa for a loan deal with an option to buy the 28-year-old Argentine, who will replace the injured Martin Terrier.
Buendia, known for his creativity and attacking flair, is set to undergo a medical shortly before finalising his move to the BayArena. His arrival means Leverkusen no longer have a need for McAtee, who had been linked with a loan switch to Germany earlier in the transfer window.
