Chelsea will have to battle it out with Bayern Munich for the signature Bournemouth defensive sensation Dean Huijsen.
Dean Huijsen is attracting a significant amount of interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe thanks to his exceptional performances for Bournemouth. According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are both keen on acquiring his services and could make a move in the near future.
Huijsen came up the ranks at Juventus. While he did make quite a name for himself on his way up, the 19-year-old centre-back couldn’t break into their first team and on the back of an impressive loan spell at AS Roma in the second half of last season, the teenager ended up joining Bournemouth ahead of the ongoing campaign.
The Spanish youth international has taken his game to the next level since joining the Cherries. The English club have been quite good this season and the teenager has played a big part in it. While it did take him a while to become a regular, he hasn’t looked back since.
He has been a constant feature for them in the Premier League since the start of December and they have been unbeaten since. With him in the starting XI, the Cherries have kept a total of eight clean sheets. His work hasn’t gone unnoticed and clubs are gearing up to make a move for him.
Huijsen is at the top of Chelsea’s wishlist
There is a release clause in the 19-year-old’s contract which becomes active next summer and clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich could look to make the most out of it. The Blues are constantly on the lookout for young stars with massive potential and the Spanish defender certainly fits the bill.
The London club seek more quality at the back and Huijsen could be a great signing for the long run having proved himself in the English top flight. While he is quite high on Chelsea’s wishlist, Bayern Munich are also keen on his signature.
