La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old Spanish youth international Dean Huijsen from Premier League club Bournemouth.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Dean Huijsen is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a centre-back ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window. So, the Bournemouth defensive sensation has emerged as a target, with the Premier League club demanding around €60 million to part ways with him.
The rise of Dean Huijsen in the Premier League
Dean Huijsen has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Premier League since joining Bournemouth from Juventus in a surprise deal worth €15 million in the summer transfer window. Born in Amsterdam, he represented the Netherlands in his early years in age-group football but has chosen Spain as his under-21 side.
As for Huijsen’s short stint with Bournemouth thus far, Huijsen has gradually risen in stature at the Premier League club. The 19-year-old has amassed nearly 1,000 minutes of game time across 14 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with two goals.
Meanwhile, Huijsen’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Real Madrid might be one of his prospective suitors in the 2025 summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Bournemouth will demand around €60 million to part ways with the Spanish youth international.
La Liga adventure beckoning?
Real Madrid’s interest in Dean Huijsen is understandable. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the 2025 summer transfer window amid the bizarre injury crises of the last two seasons. Eder Militao has picked up two long-term knee issues, while David Alaba missed the entire 2024 after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid might entertain bids for Alaba and Militao. So, Los Blancos should invest in at least one new centre-back. So, several candidates, including Lisandro Martinez, have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, with Huijsen also a viable target.
However, as iterated earlier, the Dutch-born Spanish youth international will not come cheap, with Bournemouth demanding around €60 million to part ways with him. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will match the Premier League club’s valuation.
