Chelsea step up interest in Abdukodir Khusanov, Arsenal tracking situation

Chelsea and Manchester City have both intensified their efforts to sign RC Lens defensive sensation Abdukodir Khusanov.

Abdukodir Khusanov is expected to be on the move in the ongoing transfer window, and there is no shortage of interest in his services. Multiple top clubs from England are after his signature and according to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Chelsea and Manchester City have both strengthened their interest in his services.

RC Lens signed Khusanov in the summer of 2023 from Energetik-BGU for just £100,000. His impressive rise and huge potential had attracted their interest, and they ended up bringing him to France.

The 20-year-old centre-back has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Ligue 1 outfit. Abdukodir Khusanov has established himself as a key figure in their first team and his consistent performances this season have put him on the radar of quite a few clubs.

While his contract at Lens runs until the summer of 2027, a move in the ongoing window cannot be ruled out given the amount of interest in him. The French outfit are ready to part ways with him as they look to raise funds. A fee of around £25 million including bonuses and add-ons could be enough to convince them to sanction the departure of the Uzbekistani international.

Khusanov to move to the Premier League

Tottenham and Newcastle United are two clubs that have been linked with Abdukodir Khusanov since October. While they have been keeping a close eye on him, neither decided to make a move which kept the door open for other clubs to join the race.

Manchester City and Chelsea have entered the race for the 20-year-old defensive sensation’s signature. City see him as an option to bolster their squad and bring an end to their recent struggles. He could be a great short as well as long-term signing.

Meanwhile, Abdukodir Khusanov is an ideal fit for the Chelsea project that focuses on signing the best young players from across Europe. They seek more depth at the back, and he could be an ideal fit in Enzo Maresca’s team.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea have stepped up their interest in him in the last week as they look to raid Lens this month. But, they will surely have to battle it out with some top clubs, as Arsenal are also in the mix. The Gunners have been closely monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation and they could pounce on an opportunity to sign him.
