Manchester United set to put off Ederson move until the summer

Manchester United will delay the move for 25-year-old Brazilian international Ederson until the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Ederson is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Atalanta midfielder is also a target for Manchester United. However, the Red Devils do not have the funds to afford a move for the Atalanta midfielder, with the Serie A giants demanding around £50 million to part ways with the Brazilian international.

The rise and rise of Ederson

Ederson continues to go from strength to strength at Atalanta. The South American midfielder has been with La Dea in July 2022, arriving at the Gewiss Stadium after a short stint with Salernitana. The player has come leaps and bounds in the last two and a half years.

The 25-year-old has turned out over 100 times thus far for Atalanta while chipping in with ten goals and three assists. Meanwhile, the player’s exploits at the Serie A club have helped him break into his national side. In addition, his progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

A move to the Premier League might be on the cards for the Brazilian international, with Manchester City and Manchester United vying for his signature. Meanwhile, the Atalanta midfielder will not come cheap, with the Serie A table-toppers demanding around £50 million to part ways with him.

A man in demand

Manchester City’s interest in Ederson makes sense. The Premier League champions have paid the price of not having a viable alternative to Rodri in the first-team squad. So, the Atalanta midfielder has emerged as a viable target for Manchester City. The Citizens should have the funds to afford a deal worth £50 million.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window. With Casemiro and Christian Eriksen struggling, they need an upgrade. While the Atalanta midfielder is a viable target, Manchester United cannot afford a deal worth £50 million for him this month.

So, Manchester United will put off pursuing Ederson’s signature until the summer transfer window. That can work in Manchester City’s favour, although it will not be surprising to see Atalanta blocking a winter exit for the 25-year-old Brazilian international.
