Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly compete with Newcastle United and West Ham United for 27-year-old AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Fikayo Tomori is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. Newcastle United and West Ham United are also keen on signing the AC Milan defender. The 27-year-old might leave the Serie A club to return to the Premier League next year.
Fikayo Tomori and his AC Milan muddle
Fikayo Tomori has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining AC Milan from Chelsea in 2021. The Serie A giants initially signed the Englishman on a loan deal in January 2021 until the end of the 2020/21 season before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window.
While the 27-year-old was once a mainstay at the back for AC Milan, his stock has fallen in the last 12 months. Tomori was the first-choice centre-back for the Rossoneri when the 2024/25 season began but has not started the 11 Serie A games. However, the player’s stock in the market remains high, with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United vying for his signature.
Premier League return on the horizon?
The English international has been on Newcastle United’s radar for a long time. The Tyneside club mulled over signing Tomori in the summer transfer window before the move failed to see the light of day. The continued interest from Newcastle United makes sense, considering Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, and Dan Burn are on the wrong side of 30.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Fikayo Tomori is understandable. Ange Postecoglou is keen on adding a centre-back to his squad, with the current strength in depth being inadequate. So, the former Chelsea defender is an option worth considering, although Tottenham will hope his allegiance to the West London outfit does not spoil their chances.
As for West Ham United, Jean-Clair Todibo has struggled to make his mark for the West London outfit. So, the Hammers are scouring the market for a centre-back, considering the Frenchman might return to OGC Nice next year. So, Tomori is a viable target for West Ham.
Tottenham’s emergence complicates matters for the other suitors, and it will be interesting to see if the 27-year-old English defender moves to the North London club. However, it will not be surprising to see the AC Milan defender end his spell with the Serie A giants to return to the Premier League next year.
