Chelsea reportedly wants £40 million for unwanted midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, with Barcelona thought to be showing an interest.
According to Talk Sport, Chelsea are open to selling Carney Chukwuemeka in January if they can fetch £40 million for the 21-year-old, rarely-used whizkid. The midfielder has struggled for minutes and relevance in Enzo Maresca’s side this term, with Barcelona one of those showing an interest.
Given Barcelona’s financial troubles that have seen them struggle to register summer signing Dani Olmo, it’s fair to assume they might not be able to afford Carney Chukwuemeka. The Catalans are interested in the forgotten midfielder, but once again, their financial problems will probably get the better of the club in the winter market.
As for Chukwuemeka, he reportedly has a £40 million release clause as per the report that Chelsea wants to be paid ahead of January. The Blues are open to selling the 21-year-old rarely-used whizkid in the winter market but will see to it they make a hefty profit that will let them use the finds on new players.
Chukwuemeka has barely made five appearances this season, and none of those have come in the Premier League. In fact, Enzo Maresca has not included him in any of the top-flight squads this term, which has made the player a frustrated figure in the background.
