Christopher Nkunku continues to seek an exit from Chelsea ahead of January, with Arsenal linked with the disgruntled French attacker.
According to Caught Offside, Christopher Nkunku is likely to look for the exit door at Chelsea during January as he continues to cut a frustrated figure in the background. The Blues might sanction an exit for the attacker, who has multiple links ahead of January, with Arsenal also thought to be in the mix.
Christopher Nkunku continues to grow frustrated in the background as he’s unable to break into Enzo Maresca’s main group. The French attacker had arrived with big promise and a huge reputation for his exploits at RB Leipzig, but injury issues mired his maiden season at Chelsea.
While he was expected to play a prominent role this season, Maresca has instead used him more in his ‘B-team’ that has played frequently in cup ties and the Conference League. While Nkunku has starred on those platforms, it’s the Premier League that he wishes to be more involved in.
He’s looking increasingly likely to leave Chelsea in January, as the club are not keen to block his departure. They are instead bracing for offers to arrive, as the 27-year-old Chelsea star could look to leave and play a prominent role elsewhere.
Chelsea are open to loaning Nkunku out, with a host of clubs across Europe keen, while there are reports that he has been offered to Barcelona. PSG are also linked, but any move will depend on the player who will evaluate his next club and the role being offered.
Arsenal linked with Christopher Nkunku
Arsenal are the latest to be linked with Nkunku ahead of January, as Mikel Arteta is expected to enter the market for a top-draw attacker. The injury to Bukayo Saka has affected the club’s thinking, while the problem with Raheem Sterling has seriously depleted their attacking options.
Nkunku could fit into the idea that Arteta wants from his attackers, although Chelsea could pose a problem in this transfer. While the two clubs have engaged in business before, this time around, they are close enough on the table for the Blues to say no to a potential transfer. More importantly, the Gunners cannot loan another Blues player, meaning this operation will have to be a permanent one.
