Manchester City working to new contract for Bernardo Silva

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are reportedly looking to renew the contract of their midfield star Bernardo Silva.

Manchester City are going through one of their most difficult seasons in recent years. While things are not really going according to plan and they are considering freshening things up over the new few transfer window, they are also looking the retain the services of a few of their established stars, including Bernardo Silva.

Silva is one of the stars they want to keep hold of at all costs and according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, they are working hard to renew the contract of the Portuguese international.

After making a name for himself at AS Monaco, Silva arrived in Manchester back in 2017. He has only gone from strength to strength over the years and has established himself as one of the most important players under Pep Guardiola.

He has been key to all the success they have had in recent years and City want him around for a few more years. His ability to feature on the flanks as well as in the centre of the park make him a very important part of Guardiola’s team.

A new deal for Bernardo Silva

As a result, the Manchester-based giants are working to renew his contract. His current deal runs until the summer of 2026 and City would like to secure his long-term future by offering him a contract that will see him stay at the club until 2027 or 2028.

While the 98-cap Portuguese international is already 30, he still has quite a few years left in him and City have no intentions of letting him leave. They will look to make significant changes to their team in the near future but Silva will remain a key figure. He is already one of the leaders in the team and could have an even bigger role going forward.

There is no shortage of interest in Silva and City want to prevent other clubs from trying to acquire his services. The player has hinted that he is keen on remaining a part of their project which is surely a boost in their hopes of renewing his terms. Negotiations are moving forward at a rapid pace and they could reach an agreement in the near future.
