Manchester City rival Newcastle United in Maghnes Akliouche chase

Manchester City holds a concrete interest in Maghnes Akliouche, with Newcastle United also keen on the Monaco winger.

According to Caught Offside, Maghnes Akliouche is steadily becoming a player with intense interest from Premier League sides. Manchester City are the latest team to express their admiration of the player and reportedly holds concrete interest in a January move, while Newcastle United are also keen on the €60 million-rated Ligue 1 winger.

AS Monaco could be bracing to receive approaches for Maghnes Akliouche ahead of the January window. The 23–23-year-old winger has been a positive light in the French side and could continue to attract big interest from the Premier League.

Back in the summer Crystal Palace were keen to sign him as a replacement for Michael Olise, as the price might have been the problem in this operation. Paul Mitchell is also keen to lure him to St James Park, as Newcastle United could make an approach ahead of the January window.

Fabrizio Romano has since ruled out a move to Newcastle United, insisting that Akliouche is likely to stay put at Monaco in the January window. That may well be the case, as the Magpies are unlikely to fork out the €60 million Monaco reportedly want for the winger if he was to leave in the winter market.

While Newcastle United might continue to think about Akliouche, other clubs are keeping close tabs on the winger’s situation ahead of January or next summer. However, the big interest is reportedly coming from Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola eager to add some dynamism and competition to the attacking setup.

Manchester City’s ‘concrete’ interest in Maghnes Akliouche

Guardiola will feel the need to add a new presence in his attacking setup, as the right wing is probably where they are a bit short. Savinho has failed to hit the ground running as he’s yet to score his first goal in the Premier League, meaning Manchester City will seriously consider bringing in viable competition for the Brazilian attacker.

Manchester City reportedly holds ‘concrete’ interest in Akliouche and could be in a position to invest big in the €60 million-rated Ligue 1 winger. Hence, Guardiola’s side could be seen as a favourite to land the Monaco star, as they will have no problems spending, which could come as a big blow for Newcastle United.
