Chelsea open to sanctioning Christopher Nkunku loan exit

Chelsea could consider sending Christopher Nkunku out on loan if the player demands an exit, which will please some interested clubs.

According to TBR, Chelsea could allow Christopher Nkunku a loan exit if the Frenchman demands to leave the club. There are rumours of interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and PSG, with the attacker keen to occupy an important role in a team.

Christopher Nkunku was expected to play a big role for Chelsea as a starter following the summer window’s conclusion. Back then, the Blues were linked with a big striker as late links to Victor Osimhen did not materialise, which placed far greater emphasis on Nkunku to take up a solid role at the club.

So far, he has played 15 Premier League games, starting only twice and, in total, accumulating just 293 minutes. He remains Chelsea’s top scorer in all competitions, with most of those coming in the cup ties and the Conference League.

Enzo Maresca recently admitted Nkunku is not a striker and insisted the No.10 role was his best position. However, the competition from Cole Palmer and Joao Felix is proving difficult for Nkunku to break into the team. At the same time, he has largely resorted to playing backup to striker Nicolas Jackson. Chelsea are already planning on a new striker, meaning the Frenchman’s future could come in significant doubt.

Chelsea are now considering sending the 27-year-old out on loan if the player demands an exit ahead of January. The Blues will only allow a departure if any loan deal comes with a buy option or obligation. Given his injury history since joining the Blues, the club may not be able to recoup what they paid for the Frenchman.

Will Nkunku join Arsenal or Manchester United?

Arsenal are surprisingly linked with Nkunku, which does seem out of context, given Chelsea are unlikely to send a second player on loan to the Gunners, as rules will now allow this transfer. The north Londoners are unlikely to pay big money for the Frenchman, meaning Manchester United could have a chance.

Manchester United have seen links to the Frenchman, as Ruben Amorim wants to add to his attack which does have a few missing players. However, PSG are posing a big threat to the chances of the English side taking Nkunku, as the Parisians are eager to re-sign the France international if an opportunity presents itself.
