Manchester United offering €35 million to sign Patrick Dorgu

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United could table an offer for the services of US Lecce attacking sensation Patrick Dorgu.

Patrick Dorgu’s exceptional rise hasn’t gone unnoticed and quite a few top clubs seem ready to battle for his signature. According to a report from AreaNapoli, Manchester United are interested in signing the Danish sensation and they could soon make a move for his signature.

Dorgu had already placed himself on the wishlist of multiple top clubs while coming up the ranks at Nordsjaelland. Even before he got promoted to their first team, the 20-year-old ended up securing a move to Lecce in the summer of 2022.

It was an initial loan spell which became permanent next summer. While the young winger started with their Under-19s, he was promoted to the senior side in 2023 and hasn’t looked back since.

Dorgu prefers playing on the right flank but he is well capable of featuring as a left-back or even as a wing-back. Lecce have used him in a variety of positions and he has been a consistent performer for them. At just 20, he is a key part of their setup and his performances have attracted a lot of attention.

Soon there could be a bidding war to sign this 20-year-old Danish sensation. Italian giants Napoli are one of the clubs that are keen on signing him. Antonio Conte is believed to be a massive admirer and he wants to integrate the youngster into his squad.

United to push hard for Dorgu in the winter

But, the Naples-based club are all set to face massive competition from Manchester United. The Red Devils are interested in the Lecce star as they seek more quality and depth on the left flank. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have had a lot of fitness concerns of late and Ruben Amorim wants to ensure he is well covered at left-back.

He has personally requested the signing of Dorgu who could be a sensational wing-back option for his team. He is exceptional going forward and has great defensive awareness. More importantly, he is young and can help them in the long run.

The Red Devils are considering submitting a €30-35 million plus bonus offer to lure him away from the Italian club in the upcoming transfer window. While Napoli can’t compete financially, they are looking to offer the option of him staying at Lecce until the end of the season. It could be a game changer for them.
