Manchester City are leading the race for the services of Atalanta midfield star Ederson amidst interest from Juventus and PSG.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Manchester City, Juventus, and PSG are all keen on reinforcing their midfield and have their eyes set on Ederson. Pep Guardiola’s City are believed to be the one leading the race for his signature at this point.
A six-month-long spell at Salernitana was enough to convince Atalanta that Ederson had it in him to succeed in the Italian top flight. La Dea acquired his services in the summer of 2022, and he hasn’t looked back since.
The Brazilian midfielder already has over 100 appearances for their first team, and he has established himself as one of the best midfielder in Italy. He played a massive part in their Europa League success last season, and his recent performances have helped him break into the Brazil national team.
While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, the 25-year-old is well capable of playing in a defensive role. Ederson’s ability to retrieve the ball and initiate attacks has attracted a significant amount of interest of late. Atalanta are well aware of the fact that multiple top clubs could knock on their doors for his signature.
European giants will battle for Ederson’s signature
The Serie A outfit have no intentions of negotiating his departure midway through the season. As a result, clubs like Manchester City, Juventus and PSG, who are keen on signing him will have to wait until the summer.
Thiago Motta wants to add more quality to his midfield, and he is keen on having Ederson in his ranks. The Brazilian has already proved himself in Serie A, and he could instantly adjust to the requirements at the Turin-based club.
Even PSG seem more quality in the centre of the park, and Ederson is quite high on their wishlist. While the Ligue 1 champions have the financial strength to strike a deal for him, Premier League giants Manchester City are believed to be the front-runners at this stage.
The long-term injury to Rodri has highlighted a few major issues in the Manchester City midfield, and Guardiola is looking to address it by pursuing the 25-year-old. The Atalanta midfielder can not only cover for the Spanish international but can even partner him in midfield.
While Atalanta have already set an asking price of €60 million, they could eventually decide against sanctioning his departure as they want to build a team that can compete with the very best.
