Manchester United rival Real Madrid in Pedro Porro chase

Manchester United are ready to enter the chase for Pedro Porro, who has played extensively under new manager Ruben Amorim before.

According to AS via Sport Witness, Pedro Porro could have a new suitor on the block as Manchester United are ready to enter the chase for the full-back. The arrival of Ruben Amorim in the Old Trafford dugout has brought out the possibility of an approach for the Tottenham star, with Real Madrid also keen.

Pedro Porro could become a big transfer story ahead of future windows, as there are suggestions that Tottenham could receive approaches ahead of the January market. The Spanish full-back is steadily becoming a key player in the Premier League, with some of the biggest clubs already keeping close tabs on his situation.

Given Spurs have invested heavily in signing him, they are not about to let the defender leave that easily or cheaply. Moreover, the negotiation skills of Daniel Levy are well known in the market, with Porro’s current suitors, Manchester City and Real Madrid, having enough experience dealing with the chairman of Tottenham. Levy values the Spaniard at around €70 million.

Real Madrid prefer Trent Alexander-Arnold over other targets, and while they are confident about the Liverpool star, Florentino Perez continues to keep his options open. Hence, Porro remains a target for Real Madrid ahead of the January transfer window and even next summer if a winter deal does not materialise.

Real Madrid also tracked Pedro Porro during the international break, and they view him as their next best option in the market for Alexander-Arnold. In addition, Manchester City are interested in the €70 million-rated Tottenham mainstay, as Pep Guardiola views him as a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker. Now, Manchester United have entered the race for the Spurs man, as Ruben Amorim’s presence could be a big factor in the chase.

Manchester United have an edge in Pedro Porro chase

Porro probably had his best career spell at Sporting CP, playing under new Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim. The Spaniard played 98 times during Amorim’s spell under the 39-year-old, scoring 12 times and providing 20 assists from a typical wing-back position.

Amorim is expected to implement a similar style at Manchester United and could approve of the idea of uniting with Porro. The Red Devils currently have Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot in that role, although there are doubts if either will suit the wing-back role. Hence, the idea of Porro is not very surprising, given that he might thrive under Amorim with a return to a familiar role.
