Bayern Munich, Real Madrid front-runners ahead of Arsenal, Manchester City in Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz may not prefer to join a Premier League club, as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City in the chase.

According to Give Me Sport, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid could consider themselves as front-runners for Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz. The 21-year-old German international has big suitors ahead of next summer when he could realistically leave. But he may prefer to skip the Premier League.

Clubs would have scrambled during the summer window had Bayer Leverkusen given the slightest hint that Florian Wirtz was available for transfer. Instead, they are confident in agreeing on a new deal that would recognise the player for his performances as well as secure the financial security for the club in the market.

Either way, there is a wider expectation that the 21-year-old German international will leave Leverkusen next summer when a host of sides, including Arsenal and Manchester City, battle for his signature. Incidentally, the Premier League giants may not stand a chance as Wirtz has other preferences.

The report states that Wirtz might ideally join the likes of Bayern Munich or Real Madrid, with the latter already considered one of the front runners in the chase. As for the Bavarian giants, they always had plans to unite Wirtz with their sensation Jamal Musiala at the Allianz Arena, which will certainly make them daunting for their rivals.

Real Madrid are in the mix to add some of the best players from around, and Wirtz is seen in that category. Any move for the 21-year-old German international will depend on the ability to pay big; Leverkusen might only consider letting him leave for a record fee.

No Arsenal or Manchester City move for Wirtz

Arsenal and Manchester City are formidable sides in the current climate, and any player would want to play for them right now. However, some players do have choices on where they would like to continue their careers, and in Wirtz’s case, he might leave for the glamour of Real Madrid or stay in Germany to sign for Bayern.

This is not to say that the Premier League duo is about to bow out of the race based on the suggestion in this report. In fact, the race will be decided by the financial aspects. Should Bayern or Real Madrid open their chequebooks to Leverkusen’s liking, the chase is almost between them, although Manchester City and Arsenal could have a say if things are any different.
