Manchester City are reportedly considering a sensational return for Cole Palmer from Chelsea and are willing to offer €150 million.
According to Fichajes, Manchester City are considering re-signing Cole Palmer from Chelsea for a staggering €150 million. The England international has been a revelation since moving to Stamford Bridge last year, and Pep Guardiola is now considering him a possible replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.
At the time of Cole Palmer’s sale to Chelsea, it was considered good business by Manchester City, which managed to offload one of their promising attacking talents for a big fee. The attacker cost the Blues a staggering €45 million. But so far, he has been worth every penny spent.
With 22 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League, Palmer had one of the best seasons by a player of his age, which has made him a key man for England. While he played on the right wing for most parts under Mauricio Pochettino, Palmer has occupied a more central role under Enzo Maresca to good effect.
Before his move to Chelsea, Cole Palmer was still highly rated, as clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona held an interest then. However, now, with his stunning form and rise in value, it will be unprecedented for any club to try to sign him. Moreover, Chelsea extended his deal by another two years, which now takes his expiry to 2033.
While most clubs will not think about signing him, Manchester City are the only one right now contemplating a move for the 22-year-old mainstay. Pep Guardiola views Palmer as the long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne and could spend around €150 million to test Chelsea’s resolve.
Will Manchester City re-sign Palmer?
These questions have no straight answer, as Manchester City do have the financial muscle to make a big bid. Moreover, Cole Palmer might consider making a sensational return to the club in an important capacity if he were to truly replace De Bruyne.
Al-Nassr are confident of signing De Bruyne, and even if he stays for a bit longer, Manchester City will have to think about replacing him at some stage. The prospect might tempt Palmer, who knows the club in and out, although dealing with Chelsea would be extremely difficult to the point that they could refuse to sell their 22-year-old mainstay.
