Manchester United rival Chelsea in Victor Boniface chase

Manchester United are all set to battle it out with Chelsea for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen attacking sensation Victor Boniface.

Victor Boniface has taken his game to another level since joining Bayer Leverkusen. The Nigerian striker has shown exponential growth under the guidance of Xabi Alonso and according to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to square up against each other for the signature of the attacking sensation.

On the back of his impressive spell at Belgium club Union SG, Alonso pushed Leverkusen to sign Boniface in the summer of 2023. He had an exceptional debut season for the German club. The 23-year-old scored 21 goals and bagged 10 assists in his 34 outings.

He played a massive part in all the success Leverkusen had. They ended Bayern Munich’s dominance in the league by winning the Bundesliga that too by remaining unbeaten. Alonso’s team even won the DFB-Pokal and made it to the final of the Europa League.

His sensational debut season had put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. Boniface has carried on in a similar fashion as he has found the back of the net on six occasions in his nine outings in the new season.

United and Chelsea are interested in Boniface

While Leverkusen have him well protected with a contract that runs until the summer of 2028, Manchester United and Chelsea have emerged as potential destinations for the 23-year-old.

Both Premier League giants are interested in the Nigerian striker who could cost between €60 to €80 million. The Reds Devils have signed two quality young strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in recent windows but they still lack the firepower in attack and Boniface could be the one who can help them out.

The Manchester-based club are all set to rival Chelsea who have been on the lookout for a new number nine for some time now. The Blues wanted to sign a star striker in the summer. While that didn’t go according to plan, their young forwards have started to fire.

However, they are still in the market for a world-class attacker and Boniface could be a perfect fit for their project that focuses on signing the best young players. Both Premier League outfits are ready to prise him away but the player is in no rush and he is focused on doing his best for the German outfit.
