Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City will reportedly have to fork out £50 million to sign Atalanta midfield star Ederson.
According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City could sign Atalanta midfield sensation Ederson for £50 million. The Brazilian midfielder has become the talk of the town on the back of his consistent performances for the Serie A outfit, and the Premier League trio are all set to battle it out for his services.
Ederson joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022, and he has not looked back since. The 25-year-old did not find it difficult to adjust to the demands at the Serie A club. But once he got used to things, the Brazilian started to showcase his true potential.
He had an exceptional 2024/25 season, where he helped La Dea win the UEFA Europa League. His abilities on and off the ball along with his potential have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are three English giants who want to add the midfield sensation to their squads.
While his contract with Atalanta runs until the summer of 2027, the report reveals that the Italian club will be ready to sanction his departure for a fee of around £50 million. It is a significant fee but given the kind of talent he has, it could prove to be a bargain in the long run.
Premier League giants to battle for Ederson’s signature
All three Premier League clubs can surely afford to sign the player, who wants to move to England, and they will look to battle for his signature. Manchester City are always on the lookout for players who can further bolster their squad, and Ederson seems to be a great fit for them.
Following the injury to Rodri, Pep Guardiola’s team are considering signing him, and they reportedly have £80 million to spend in the winter. Meanwhile, Liverpool wanted a new number six in the summer. The Reds went after the signature of Martin Zubimendi.
While the Zubimendi chase did not go according to plan, Liverpool are still looking for a defensive midfielder, and Ederson has all the qualities Arne Slot seeks. Arsenal are well covered in the centre of the park, and they are also looking to extend Thomas Partey’s contract.
However, Mikel Arteta would love to have a versatile star like Ederson at his disposal. He will give him more tactical flexibility. With all three giants keen on his signature and the asking price set at £50 million, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
