Real Madrid considering Micky van de Ven move

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid are interested in acquiring the services of Tottenham defensive sensation Micky van de Ven.

According to a report from Defensa Central, Real Madrid are looking to reinforce their backline with an eye on the future, and they are interested in the services of Tottenham star Micky van de Ven who is considered to be one of the best young defenders in the world.

Micky van de Ven’s time at Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou was keen on signing a pacy centre-back upon his arrival at the North London club. As a result, they forked out a significant fee to bring van de Ven to the club in the summer of 2023. The 23-year-old had an exceptional debut season, and he has carried in similar fashion in the new season.

The Dutch international has established himself as one of their mainstays under the Australian manager, and he had a sensational outing against Manchester United last time out. He was the Man of the Match because of his work on both ends of the pitch.

Van de Ven registered a top speed of 37.12 km/h when he chased back to tackle Alejandro Garnacho late on in the first half. It was the fourth-fastest speed to be recorded in the Premier League, and he even holds the first spot with a top speed of 37.38 recorded at the start of the year.

Real Madrid want to sign van de Ven

The record-breaking speedster’s performances have put him on the radar of Real Madrid, who seek defensive reinforcement. Los Blancos have one of the strongest squads in the world, but they do need to freshen things up at the back. With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger on the wrong side of 30, they need a young partner for Eder Militao.

Juni Calafat and his team have been on the lookout for an ideal fit, and van de Ven seems to have impressed them. At just 23 years old and standing 1.93 meters tall, he commands attention on the pitch. He is exceptional at the back and can use his pace and height to cause havoc on both ends of the pitch.

His contract runs until the summer of 2029. While Los Blancos are keen on signing van de Ven, Daniel Levy won’t let him leave on the cheap. The Spanish club are well aware of the fact that it is not easy to negotiate with the Tottenham chairman. Real Madrid are in no rush as there is a long way to go for the summer of 2025, and they are also looking at other possible options, including Tottenham teammate Cristian Romero.
