Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City eyeing Souleymane Sidibe swoop

Stoke City teenager Souleymane Sidibe has many Premier League clubs scrambling, with the EFL Championship side anticipating approaches.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, a host of Premier League sides are chasing Souleymane Sidibe ahead of future transfer windows. The Stoke City teenager has come in for high demand following a few impressive performances, as the promise of the future is what is enticing the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

Souleymane Sidibe in high demand

More and more Premier League sides are setting sights on some of the promising youngsters from lower leagues. The Championship has proven to be the go-to league for top-flight teams to pluck exciting young stars, and the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City have identified their next big target.

Stoke City’s 17-year-old English prodigy Souleymane Sidibe has emerged as a big target for those clubs as the teenager continues to perform at the highest level. He might have played only a few games with the Championship side’s first team. But he has already shown plenty of promise.

Chelsea were keen earlier in the summer but never made the move, probably because Sidibe signed professional terms with Stoke City. The box-to-box midfielder has a contract until 2028, meaning prising him away will be a bit expensive for Premier League clubs.

However, should a top club like Arsenal, Chelsea, or Manchester City come into the equation, any player will have his head turned. Manchester City, in particular, has shown the knack of developing young talents, and by the looks of it, Sidibe seems like someone very close to breaking into the first team sooner rather than later. Chelsea and Arsenal are also fantastic options, given their flush developmental system in the background.

Stoke City should keep Sidibe

For Stoke City, it will be a matter of when the midfielder departs from the Championship side to a big Premier League counterpart. In truth, they should resist the temptation of selling the 17-year-old English prodigy right now and keep him for a few years to aid his development.

Should Sidibe live up to the promise of becoming a breakthrough star in the coming seasons, Stoke will have a significant financial opportunity waiting in the wings. The move could have the opposite reaction if Sidibe fails to fulfil his potential, as a big offer in the nearest windows for the teenager will surely tempt the Championship side.
