Bayern Munich are optimistic about agreeing on a new deal with their attacking sensation Jamal Musiala amidst interest from Manchester City.
According to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, Bayern Munich are keen on securing the long-term future of Jamal Musiala and are confident about striking a deal with the German international. While there is no shortage of interest in the services of the attacking midfielder, the German giants are pushing hard to extend his stay at the club.
Musiala was a part of the Chelsea youth ranks for around eight years before he made the move to Germany to join Bayern in the summer of 2019. He started with their Under-17 team and ended up securing promotion to the first team in 12 months.
The German international has gone from strength to strength since and has managed to establish himself as a mainstay at both club and country despite being just 21. He has already featured in over 160 matches for Bayern and has contributed towards 75 goals (44 goals, 31 assists).
Musiala is considered to be one of the best young talents in the world and multiple top clubs from across Europe are keen on signing him. While he still has well over 18 months left on his deal, Bayern are on their toes with regards to his future at the club.
Romano’s take on Musiala’s future
The German giants consider him to be an integral part of their future plans and they do not want to risk losing out on him for a cut-price fee in the future. They want him around for as long as possible and are looking to offer him a new lucrative deal to extend his stay at the club.
While speaking on CaughtOffside about the 21-year-old’s future, Romano said: “Another top German talent to watch remains Jamal Musiala, with Bayern speaking publicly about wanting him to sign a new contract and stay with the club for the long term,”
“For now, however, no decision has been made, it’s a negotiation. Nothing has changed for now, there have been no significant developments.
“Of course Bayern are confident, they want Musiala to stay and his contact is a really important topic for the board, they simply can’t fail on this mission. Negotiations are ongoing, but it’s too early to say how it will finish.”
Bayern confident about extending Musiala’s stay
Manchester City have emerged as a potential destination for the youngster. Pep Guardiola’s team have established themselves as one of the giants in Europe and they are constantly on the lookout for players who can help them maintain their dominance.
With Kevin De Bruyne in the final phase of his career, Musiala could be the perfect replacement. While City have the financial strength to lure him to the club, Bayern are confident about agreeing on a new deal with the youngster.
While nothing concrete has happened yet and it is still early days in the negotiations, the German giants feel they can convince him to commit his future to the club. It is one of the most important topics for the Bayern board and they can’t afford a slip-up. They do not want Musiala to enter the final year of his contract as the German giants will then lose control of the situation.
