Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United rival Barcelona in Jonathan Tah chase

Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are keen on signing 28-year-old German defender Jonathan Tah, a target for Barcelona.

Jonathan Tah will see his contract with Bayer Leverkusen expire in 2025, and he will not sign an extension with them. The 28-year-old is looking to join an ambitious club capable of winning trophies, and he has been on the radar of Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

According to Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona are keen on the 28-year-old defender as well, and it will be interesting to see if they can beat the three Premier League clubs to his signature. The Catalan giants have looked vulnerable defensively, and they could use a quality central defender.

However, they do not have the financial muscle to compete with the English clubs, even though the German international will leave Bayer Leverkusen as a free agent. Barcelon are going through financial difficulties right now, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

If the Bundesliga winner is allowed to leave at the end of the season, he will be available on a free transfer. Alternatively, the German club could look to sell him for a reasonable amount of money in January.

Tah would improve all four clubs

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United need defensive reinforcement as well. All three clubs have looked vulnerable at the back recently. Chelsea will be able to fill the void left by Thiago Silva with an experienced defender, and Liverpool will be able to replace Joel Matip, who left the club upon the expiry of his contract.

As far as Manchester United are concerned, the German defender could compete with Leny Yoro for a starting spot next season. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. The opportunity to play for all four clubs will be quite tempting for the German international, and he will certainly be excited to compete in the Premier League or La Liga.

Signing a player of his quality for a nominal price or on a free transfer would represent excellent business for all four clubs, and they should do everything in their power to get the deal done.
