Erling Haaland could end up pushing to leave Manchester City to join Real Madrid should certain dominoes fall into place for the Spanish giants.
A report by Defensa Central has claimed that Erling Haaland could potentially push to join Real Madrid next summer. The report states there are certain dominoes with regard to Manchester City that need to fall in place for the Norwegian to demand such a move, as the 24-year-old Manchester City talisman is one of Florentino Perez’s dream signings.
Erling Haaland could push for Real Madrid
Erling Haaland, into his third Manchester City season, has already come close to reaching the 100-goal mark, as he is on 97 strikes in 102 games in all competitions. In the Premier League, he has finished the previous two campaigns as the top scorer and is already on seven goals in three games this term.
Overall, he has continued his immense goalscoring prowess in Pep Guardiola’s side, although there is a significant danger they could lose him next summer. Real Madrid already considered signing him in 2025 earlier this year. That plan could materialise as the report states the 24-year-old Manchester City talisman could eventually push for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Florentino Perez is busy collecting his next Galactico squad and has already signed Kylian Mbappe this past summer. Adding Haaland to that mix would be incredible, as the striker reportedly has a clause that could see him join a club outside the Premier League for a decent price. However, Real Madrid are hoping a few more dominoes fall into place that could trigger the forward, forcing an exit from Manchester City.
The reported release clause aside, Guardiola could leave when his contract expires next summer. Secondly, there’s the looming case of Manchester City’s 115 charges levied by the Premier League, which could see a significant verdict coming out at the end of 2024, which could even result in a demotion for the club.
Haaland, the new Galactico?
Should all the dominoes fall in place for Real Madrid, a move for Haaland cannot be ruled out, as this would be the only club the striker could see as an upgrade to his current surroundings? However, should the Norwegian arrive, it could spell the end of one of Real Madrid’s current star attackers, with Manchester City-linked Rodrygo Goes the likely candidate.
Perez has shown in the past he is unafraid of making bid decisions including offloading a big player in return for another. Real Madrid are also keen on Rodri, a teammate of Haaland, next summer, as signing both stars would be a big statement of intent from the Bernabeu supremo.
