RC Strasbourg set to complete permanent move for Deivid Washington

Deivid Washington is all set to part ways with Chelsea just 12 months after joining them with a deadline-day move to RC Strasbourg.

According to a report from L’Équipe, RC Strasbourg are set to finalise the permanent signing of Deivid Washington before the transfer deadline. The Ligue 1 outfit have an agreement in place with sister club Chelsea worth just over €21 million.

Washington made a name for himself while coming up the ranks at Santos and just a month after getting promoted to their first team, he joined Chelsea in a deal worth around €16 million. But, his move to the Premier League club last summer has not really gone according to plan.

During his debut campaign at the West London club, the 19-year-old Brazilian striker was involved in just three first-team fixtures. While the teenager still has six years left on his deal at Chelsea, he is all set to seal a permanent move away from the club just 12 months after joining them.

Deivid Washington to join Petrovic and others at RC Strasbourg

The versatile forward, who prefers playing as a number nine, can also play out wide on the left flank as well as a number. But, it seems he is surplus to requirements under Enzo Maresca. As a result, Deivid Washington is all set to join sister club RC Strasbourg.

The Ligue 1 club, who are also owned by the American consortium BlueCo, have already reached an agreement with the Blues to sign Djordje Petrovic on a season-long loan. The Serbian shot-stopper is all set to be their number one of the 2024/25 season.

But, he is not the only Chelsea player who will be travelling to Strasbourg on Friday. He will be accompanied by Washington, while Andrey Santos has joined them on loan and Diego Moreira has completed a permanent transfer.

The Alsatian club are all set to finalise the Brazilian striker’s signing, and they are all set to break their transfer record to make it happen. The Blues will receive a fee of just over €21 million for the teenager’s departure. It will surely help them balance their books.

Meanwhile, Strasbourg is all set to get their hands on an exciting talent who could help them significantly in the short as well as the long run. The report suggests he will be penning down a five-year deal at his new club.
