Al-Ahli beat Chelsea to Victor Osimhen deal

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United set to meet with agents of Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea have suffered defeat at the hands of Saudi giants Al-Ahli in the race for the services of Napoli attacking ace Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea have been working on a potential deal to bring Victor Osimhen to the Stamford Bridge since the start of the summer transfer window. Despite all their efforts, they are all set to miss out on the Napoli ace. According to a report from Sky Sports, Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli have agreed terms with Chelsea to sign the Nigerian superstar.

Osimhen has taken his game to another level since making the move to Napoli from LOSC Lille in the summer of 2020. He played a pivotal role in their 2022/23 Serie A campaign as the 25-year-old contributed towards 31 goals (26 goals, 5 assists) in his 32 league outings.

While the 2023/24 season was not that memorable for the Nigerian striker, he still finished with 17 goals and four assists across all competitions. Despite being an integral part of the Italian outfit’s first team and having two years left on his deal, Osimhen has been pushing for a move away from the club since the start of the summer.

He wants to try a new challenge elsewhere and has been linked with a move to Chelsea. The Blues want to bring in a world-class striker to lead their young attack, and Osimhen has been their top target since the start. While the London club were looking for a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku, the Italian outfit have secured a separate agreement to sign the Belgian ace.

Initially, Napoli were holding out on the player’s release clause. However, with no club interested in meeting their demands, the Partenopei have softened their stance regarding the sale of the 25-year-old.

While reports suggested that the Blues were closing in on his signature after resolving issues related to personal terms, Chelsea seem to have suffered a defeat at the hands of a Saudi Pro League club.

The Blues were threatened by the presence of clubs from the Middle East earlier as well and as per the report, Al-Ahli have beaten them in the race to his signature. The Saudi giants have agreed on a deal worth around €80 million to sign the former Lille striker. Having struck a deal with Napoli, Al-Ahli are pushing hard to complete the transfer as soon as possible.
