Manchester City not working on deal to sign Kingsley Coman

Manchester City are not in the running for Kingsley Coman, the 28-year-old Bayern Munich winger who is free to leave the club.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester City are not among the suitors for Kingsley Coman. The 28-year-old winger is free to leave Bayern Munich either on loan or permanently, while Pep Guardiola might splash on a Julian Alvarez replacement before the window shuts.

No Manchester City move for Kingsley Coman

Manchester City are in the market for a replacement for Julian Alvarez after the Argentine made a big move to Atletico Madrid earlier in the week. Pep Guardiola valued the attacker highly and will certainly dip into the market to find another player who can bring his sort of numbers to the team.

Kingsley Coman was a reported target, or at least Manchester City were credibly linked with the 28-year-old as a replacement for Alvarez. However, German journalist Florian Plettenberg insisted that they are not in the running as the winger might have other suitors lining up a move.

He mentions PSG as someone who has held talks with Bayern over a move. The Bundesliga side have already signed Michael Olise this summer, meaning Coman’s place is no longer secure, as the club is open to letting him leave on loan. The winger was reportedly offered to Barcelona, although the Catalans are planning on another player, Nico Williams, to come into that wide attacking role.

Manchester City’s other attacking targets

Manchester City will not pursue a deal for the 28-year-old, as Pep Guardiola could look at other options in the window. They are linked with Eberechi Eze, with the Crystal Palace star available if the Premier League champions or others trigger his release clause.

Guardiola also admires Rodrygo Goes, although luring the forward out of Real Madrid would be difficult. He will also cost a lot, and there’s no reason for Carlo Ancelotti or Florentino Perez to consider a departure for the Brazilian star.

If Guardiola has other targets in mind, it’s not clear as of yet. However, replacing the space left by Alvarez’s departure seems imperative at this moment, and there’s still plenty of time left to find the right replacement in this window.
