Bayern Munich open to Alphonso Davies sale again

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have reportedly changed their stance on Alphonso Davies and might consider offers for him this summer amid his links with Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Alphonso Davies is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are confident that the Bayern Munich wing-back wants to play for them. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga champions are now open to cashing in on the 23-year-old if he does not commit to a new contract in the coming days.

Alphonso Davies and his Bayern Munich journey

Alphonso Davies has enjoyed a transformational half a decade at Bayern Munich since arriving from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019. The youngster was a promising winger when he moved to the Allianz Arena several years ago. However, he has turned into a boisterous left-back in the last five and a half seasons.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed tremendous success at Bayern Munich, winning the treble in the 2019/20 season while lifting five Bundesliga crowns. Davies has turned out nearly 200 times thus far for Bayern Munich while chipping in with 11 goals and 31 assists.

However, the Canadian international faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena after entering the final 12 months of his contract. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid interested in Davies

Real Madrid’s interest in Alphonso Davies is understandable. The Merengues are keen on having two top-class options for every position. So, with Fran Garcia facing an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu midway through the summer transfer window, Davies is a viable target to become Ferland Mendy’s competitor for the left-back berth.

However, the reigning La Liga champions do not want to break the bank to secure Alphonso Davies’s signature, which has stalled a prospective summer move for the Bayern Munich star. In addition, the Bundesliga giants have been open to keeping the 23-year-old at the Allianz Arena without him signing a new deal. However, that stance has softened this month.

The latest update has revealed that the Bavarian giants are open to cashing in on the Canadian international in the summer transfer window if they receive an appealing sum. So, the ball is now in Real Madrid’s court as they look to secure Davies’s signature, with Los Blancos confident he wants to play for the club.
