Newcastle United deem Alexander Isak untouchable amid Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham links

Newcastle United are confident that they will have ‘untouchable’ Alexander Isak with them for the season and will not sell the player in this window.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United have no interest in entertaining offers for Alexander Isak, with a host of Premier League rivals keen on the Swede. Eddie Howe considers the striker untouchable and will not want him gone, and the expectation now is that the forward will be at the club beyond this transfer window.

Newcastle United will not sell Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak was expected to be on Newcastle United’s sellable assets list as they had to find a way to maneuver their FFP-related problems. The Magpies had to raise funds through player sales before the June 30 deadline, and the Swede was seen as someone they could offload for a big fee to balance their finances.

However, Newcastle United played it smart and sold Eliott Anderson and Yankuba Minteh for £35 million and £33 million, respectively. With those outgoings, the Magpies no longer needed to sell either Isak or Bruno Guimaraes, with the latter being the other sellable asset in their squad.

Arsenal showed heavy interest in Isak very early in the window, but Mikel Arteta’s pursuit of Benjamin Sesko showed they had moved on from the Swedish striker. Tottenham is also considered a suitor in the chase, as Ange Postecoglou wants a new No.9 in his side and had the Newcastle United star on his radar despite his heavy price point.

Meanwhile, there’s Chelsea’s reported interest, which saw the Blues offer players and cash in exchange for Isak, something Newcastle United wasted no time in turning down. This proposal came during the club’s time of looking to raise funds, as the Magpies have remained firm in their stance that they will not sell the striker at any cost this summer.

A new contract for Alexander Isak?

While Newcastle United are highly confident that Isak will remain on their squad beyond the September 1 deadline, they are also convinced enough to offer him a new deal. The 24-year-old Newcastle star gave ample indication of his talents with his tally of 21 goals in the Premier League last season.

In any case, Eddie Howe considers Isak ‘untouchable,’ meaning he’s their top priority this summer, and the club will do all they can to keep hold of the 24-year-old. Hence, none of the interested sides may have a chance this summer, although stranger things have happened in the transfer market.
